Learn how the Linklater progression of voice exercises can be applied to the singer’s voice! The workshop will begin with a Linklater vocal warm-up that releases and connects the voice through the body, develops resonance that opens up 3 to 4 octaves of vocal range, addresses habitual tensions in the throat, jaw, and tongue, and encourages more freedom of release as your vocalizing becomes more energized. Next, you will segue from range-building triads and arpeggios into singing your songs while staying physically loose. Each student will have the opportunity for individual instruction. An accompanist will be provided for the final two hours of the session as the technique for singing your songs connects to the fullness and depth of meaning. It is highly recommended that you bring sheet music. This workshop is designed to help beginners as well as more experienced singers discover a way to sing more expressively.
