The Sound & Movement Workshop

“Words have become largely utilitarian in everyday life and are conditioned to run from the speech cortex straight to the mouth.  They seldom pick up an emotional charge except under extreme provocation…but there is a vast territory of expression between utility and passion that can profit from visceral connection without waiting for extremity.  Awareness of the sensory nature of words must come before that of their informational purpose if we are restore words to the body…”
Kristin Linklater, Freeing the Natural Voice

This workshop is a renowned progression of exercises developed by Kristin Linklater involving a series of images that are designed to explore the roots of language and restore your tactile pleasure in speaking text.  By awakening the neuro-physiological pathways to receive and respond to imagery, you will find ways to embody your text, as well as access a greater range of vocal expressiveness.

Please have a Shakespeare Sonnet prepared for the workshop.
